blog #5

Well i got into a car crash this weekend. It sucks and for the whole time i never thought about physics. afterwards though, i looked at it and found a positive out of it. This could be another physics blog, and has everything to do with momentum. you see, i hit a range rover that had a much larger mass than my mazda. Although i was at a higher velocity and had more momemtum, the other guys car exerted a much larger impulse on my car because although impulse is force times time, its also the change in momentum and since my car went from 15mph to 0 in a split second, and his car barely rolled forward, a larger impulse was exerted on my car and therefore, destroying the front of my car. his car was hardly damaged, just a scuffed bumper because of the small impulse exerted on my car. this really sucks

Blog #4

As you can see, i'm at a pool. whose pool??? you need not worry. you see the clips taken were for the purpose of realizing that physics is in everyday life you see, and everyday normal thing is happening in which a large boy, is going to hit another large boy into the pool. In the beginning, both boy's potential energies are 0 and so are their kinetic energies. When the boy starts to run, it is all turned into kinetic energy while the other boy's net energy is 0. As They make contact, the boy with the kinetic energy is slowed down and loses kinetic energy as it is transferred into the other boy. As they both fall into the pool, they both share the kinetic energy the running boy had. the enrgy throughout is the same, acccording to the law of conservation of energy. Then there's a candid of the boys. go physics!!!

Blog #3

Wow I seriously didn't have a camera to take pictures of all the exciting things i did this weekend. Like a dope, I forgot to do it on sunday so here i am desperate, trying to find something to post. But then i remebered, that physics is all around me, and it should be that hard to find a picture. Its another muggy day so a watched the fan go round and round blowing air at my face. Thank god we learned about newton's third law of motion today because a fan is the perfect example of that!!! You see, although it may only seem like the fan blades are pushing the air, the air is actually pushing on the fan blades too with the same force. It's just that the fan has more inertia so it has more power to stay still than the air. Thank you newton, thank you physics!

Blog #2

I was bored on sunday, forgetting to bring my camera with me on saturday when i played pac 5 and slept over my friends house. Looking through old pictures of me, i came across a picture of me in iolani inter. football and i remembered that i had to do a blog!!! In the picture, i am in the air, accelarating at -9.8 m/s2. That is the constant rate of accelaration in freefall. I also caught the ball in this picture, which has a lot to do with trajectory and what we are learning now. Wow, i didn't look that bad in 9th grade =)

Blog #1

Although it was a busy weekend, driving from one place to another non stop and always having something to do, I wondered, How am I going to finish my blog? I can't find any thing related to physics. Then it hit me. I WAS DRIVING ALL WEEKEND!!!! Hey thats physics!!! Over 120 miles of physics at that. I had my friend help me snap some pictures from my point of view because of that ridiculous law that doesn't let us use cell phones. Anyways, we're studying kinematics why not do a blog on it. The first picture shows me stopped at a light, with my accelaration at zero, velocity at zero, and displacement at zero. After all, im not moving. The next pic shows me trying to get on the freeway. As a speed up, my accelaration increases, as my velocity increases at a steady pace and my displacement increases. And finally, in the third pic, shows me taking the kinau offramp. As I slow down, My accelaration decreases, my velocity decreases at a steady rate, and my displacement continues to increases slowly now. Sorry, there was no negative displacement this weekend. Fun weekend, and i discovored some physics that was right in front of my face
